Logans Kiwi Encounter

I went out on a special occasion to Lake Rotokare wildlife reserve after school to release a little kiwi named Regal. He was picked up as an egg in the bush by the manager Simon and Nick the vet from the kiwi trust. Sue the kiwi release guide from the kiwi trust helped put a transmitter on little Regals leg with a lady from Rotorua who drove all the way down to deliver Regal to the reserve. Once the transmitter was on Regals leg we hiked out into the bush to go release Regal. So we hiked for 20 to 30 minutes then we found a home for Regal that was under a big tree with lots of roots and holes. Then we had to get some ferns to keep him warm .Then we got to pat Regal and get photos with him. After this we let him go and walked back to the cars, said lots of thank yous to the helpers, then we drove home back to New Plymouth....Logan.
